Lace shorts - The complete outfit
So if y'all remember, I grabbed up some $14 beige lace shorts from kmart. Well they came and I actually love how they look! They are comfy (elasticc waste band OH YEA) and have a cute ribbon that ties. Then I hit up Forever 21 for a lil shopping spree (a great place to get stuff cheap!) and found a gorgeous rustic pink flowy tank for $11.50, I also found a SWEET pocket-watch necklace for only $9.80! So the complete look is depicted in these pics, great for a summer jazz session/outdoor concert :)

Summer office wear! Pink Blazer!
This Pink Blazer from H&M for only $34.95 is a statement piece that will look great over dresses and in combination with a cute blouse! Professional but sassy!
I also love this pairing with a pair of longer shorts and strappy sandals for a cocktail hour or nicer concert series!

The science behind attraction
Time to get geeky. We all want to look good, why, because we want people to accept us, and often, we want people to find us "attractive". But what makes something "attractive"? Guess what, it's all in your head....no, seriously, we find things attractive/unattractive due to evolutionary rationale that everyone has up in their brain.
Easiest one to attack - a common rule is that symmetry is beautiful and asymmetry is, well, not. Let's go to the moment of conception: the cells are splitting, everything has a pair, everything has a counterpart. Asymmetries are indicators of weakness of genes and the presence of oxidative stress. Weak genes, oxidative stress, and other negatives revealed by asymmetry, make it harder to survive. The name of the game is "survival of the fittest" and you don't want to be caught with or produce progeny with someone who won't be around for too long!
Next height, weight, hip to waste ratio (these obviously apply to women only). These are huge as far as the "attractiveness" scale, and for good reason. All three are indicators of fertility and general health. Research studies have found that a BMI around 20.85 is found most "attractive". The explanation has already been indicated above, but I'll go ahead and spell it out. At/around this BMI women are most fertile. Hip to waste ratio also indicates fertility as it indicates the ability to actually give birth to a child (you all know how it happens).
Another indication is pigmentation. We all want glowing skin, but those with the best genes, best fitness practices, and best eating habits will have the best skin. They will also be most likely to survive. Again easy match, the beautiful feature is not beautiful on it's own, but rather because it reveals a clue to evolutionary sucess!
While I could go on with virtually every aspect we consider "beautiful", that would be quite nonsensical. My intent was not to list beautiful features that make up a hypothetical ideal woman, but rather to reveal that science and natural occurences are really behind our thought process! I think all women should realize that this surface level beauty is really only a perception that we have utilized to help our mate choice as suitable for evolutionary purposes.
Next time I go geeky, I'm going to discuss what clothing options are right for different body types based on the science behind attraction! Catch ya on the flipside nerds.

Gold watch update....
Ok kiddos....I went with this watch! It's always important to read reviews! And this got raving reviews on amazon. Perfect shiny boyfriend style watch...without any bling bling (not a huge fan). $24 + free shipping with prime! Plus I use an amazon visa which I had points built up on....so this lil puppy came in at $0! Yayayayay! I'll post a picture when it comes in!
Lace shorts and a chunky gold watch
So this is my first post. EVER. I could regret this later as both of these items to be quickly lived fasions, but my first fashion search is for lace shorts & a chunky gold watch and I'm aiming to get both for under $50. So my go to is a quick google search for both items.....cheapest acceptable results:
Lace shorts on EBAY:: $16.99 (buy now), free shipping. Word of advice - using ebay always check out the seller! REMEMBER - BUYER BEWARE! I have noticed that this seller is in China (this should be an immediate red flag), but free shipping, and a 96.8% seller rating with >1000 reviews indicates that this seller is decent. I would be willing to give it a shot.
Next - a color splash - orange crochet knit shorts! Again from ebay, and only two available (but these are great unique finds!). Seller is highly rated, free shipping, and in the US! Price comes in at a decent $28.
Final try - lace shorts from....KMART!? Ok general rule - never shop at kmart and walmart. However, this rule can be broken if 1. The piece is plain 2. The piece is inspected and deemed to be high quality material 3. You get a friend to give you the ok that it doesn’t look “cheap”. Side note: Target actually has some great lines and pretty quality clothes. It’s a go to for some plane staple items! BUT – I saw these online and they are in Selena Gomez’s line, so tonight I’m going to head over to the “K” to check them out. I’ll let you know my results. But my initial inclination is leaning towards a “woot woot!”.Lace shorts from the K!
OK onto the gold watch! What I'm going for: This clutch piece from Michael Kors:
So my first stop again is google. But sadly, the watches displayed in Google's shopping tab range from tacky to mucho expensivo. Not happening. Then I go to Amazon. Amazon is a great site and PRIME is free for college students! So utilize the free shipping. I immediately find two great choices:

Unfortunately this comes in at >$150!

And finally a men's watch that I found on amazon. You are probably dismissing me as a crazy person at this point for suggesting a men's watch, but as a rule I do not let a gender designation on an item determine its applicability or style. While I don't regularly shop in the mens department, if I see something I like I try it, no matter if it's in women's, girls, boys, men's, etc. I've even purchased a headband from baby gap because it looked daaaang good!
Decision time for me: I went with the KMART shorts because I found coupon codes online: and I used my discover cashback bonus to get a giftcard. I still can't decide on the watch, and in this case, I question the quality and am contemplating dishing out a little more for a better quality gold watch. I think for me it will come down to how much I will utilize it. A staple accessory piece - i'll dish out some more dough, but if I'm only going to accessorize here and there - then I'll go with a cheapie!
I'll post pics of the full outfit when they all come in & I decide on a watch! Until then happy styling!
